Eagles Reportedly Shopping Rasul Douglas After Disappointing 2019 Season
The Philadelphia Eagles used a third-round pick on cornerback Rasul Douglas in 2017. Since then he has started in 18 of his 46 career games and has five interceptions to his name.
2019 was a rough year for Douglas as he finished with zero interceptions and lost his starting role at the midway point of the regular season, with Birds opting to utilize the likes of Sidney Jones instead. The Eagles have recently added Darius Slay in a blockbuster trade with the Lions, and that move has resulted in Howie Roseman and Co. preparing to part ways with Douglas.
Douglas only made six starts in 2019 and is in a contract year in 2020. The Eagles have seven total defensive backs under contract and may just want to get anything in return for Douglas if there is zero intention of giving him a new deal. Moving on from him this offseason would also save the Eagles $2.1 million.
Adding Slay was a great move by the Eagles front office. That allows the team to shed Douglas' contract and potentially bring back a draft pick in return.
