Eagles Should Pursue Free Agent CB Logan Ryan to Further Buff up Secondary After Darius Slay Trade

The Eagles were desperate to make some additions to the secondary in the offseason, and did just that by acquiring Darius Slay in a trade with the Lions. While Slay will certainly improve the Eagles defense, the team could still use some further starpower roaming the secondary.

Well, arguably the best cornerback left on the open market is Logan Ryan, and if he comes down a bit from his current asking price, he could be a fantastic addition for Howie Roseman and Co.

Ryan is reported to be seeking no less than $10 million per year on his next contract, but those demands have resulted in a limited market for the 29 year old. Should he continue to receive minimal interest from teams, he could end signing a one-year prove-it deal, which would be a perfect opportunity for the Eagles to bring him aboard.

Last year with the Tennessee Titans, Ryan recorded four interceptions, 18 pass defenses, 113 tackles and 4.5 sacks. He'd be an instant improvement over the likes of Avonte Maddox, Sidney Jones or Rasul Douglas.

The Eagles aren't flush with cash right now, but they should have enough money left to facilitate a deal for Ryan if he comes down from his price just a bit. Most of the big-named free agents have put pen to paper on new contracts, but the Eagles could make a big late splash by bringing Ryan to Philly.
