Eagles Sign CB Cre'Von LeBlanc to Contract Extension and Place Him on IR
By Parker White
You have to really like a player to give them a contract extension when they're out with an foot injury.
On Monday, the Philadelphia Eagles agreed to a one-year contract extension through the 2020 season with cornerback Cre'Von LeBlanc. He will go on the IR and is eligible to return later in the season.
LeBlanc was claimed off waivers by the Eagles last November from the Detroit Lions. He impressed in his short time with the Eagles, as he showed a physicality teams are looking for at the cornerback position.
In eight games (four starts) with the Eagles, LeBlanc recorded 24 tackles with one pass defended.
Once he returns from the ankle injury, LeBlanc will have to compete with the likes of Ronald Darby, Avonte Maddox, Sidney Jones and Rasul Douglas for playing time. Of course, now that he's locked up for an additional year, the Eagles will find a spot for him to thrive week in and week out.
