The Philadelphia Eagles have been dealt a bit of a bad hand at the back end of their defense, and have responded accordingly with a veteran addition. With Ronald Darby, Jalen Mills, and Cre’Von LeBlanc all nursing injuries, former Chiefs and Cowboys cornerback Orlando Scandrick is joining up with Philly in a move first reported by NFL insider Mike Garafolo.

The 32-year-old Scandrick appeared in 15 games last season in Kansas City, his highest total since playing the full 16 for Dallas in 2013. Last year also saw him set his career high for passes defended in a single season with 13.

He arrives at Eagles camp as a much-needed reinforcement insofar as he's a warm body that isn't entirely incapable of playing: Mills is on the PUP list with a foot injury, Darby isn't fully returned from last year's ACL tear, and LeBlanc recently went down with a foot issue of his own.

Scandrick won't necessarily be a game-changer for Philly, but he provides immediate relief at a vulnerable position as Doug Pederson's boys begin to round themselves into form ahead of the new NFL campaign.
