Eagles Spanish Announcer in Legal Trouble With Former Business Partner
By Brian Cass
If you're a Spanish speaker and listen to your Philadelphia Eagles games on La Mega 105.7, you may need to find a new broadcast after an apparent lawsuit was filed between two former business partners involved with the network.
Michael Sciore and Spanish announcer Bill Kulik created the Spanish Sports Network back in 2011, and they've been broadcasting Philly sports games on there ever since. But after Sciore bought La Mega 105.7 and the two subsequently parted ways, they now find themselves in the middle of a lawsuit that could mark the end of the network in Philly altogether.
Once Sciore and Kulik separated, the former went on to purchase La Mega 105.7 to continue broadcasting Eagles game in Spanish. Kulik found new partners in order to keep the network afloat, and signed a deal with the Eagles to broadcast their games through 2020.
This didn't sit well with Sciore, as just last year, he filed a lawsuit against Kulik for not paying him his $5,500 as part of their separation agreement. Furthermore, Sciore also claimed that the agreement gave him the right to broadcast Eagles games in Spanish on his station within the Philadelphia market. Kulik has since denied this claim, stating that Sciore's comments on the exclusivity on the Eagles' Spanish broadcasts are untrue.
It seems odd that the two can't agree to broadcast Eagles games in Spanish on both of their stations as it would only stand to widen their reach to the Spanish community in the Philly area. But, when money is involved with former business partners, people tend to be a bit greedy. And it seems like that's the case we have here.
For the sake of all Spanish Eagles fans, hopefully this feud doesn't prevent either network from broadcasting the games. They've given us some gems over the years, including this amazing call during last year's Eagles-Bears playoff game.
Sciore and Kulik need to settle their lawsuit as soon as possible, otherwise, this may have been the last exciting call we'll get from the Spanish Football Network in Philly.
