The Philadelphia Eagles made the difficult decision to turn the page on the Jason Peters era, as they will let the veteran left tackle test the free agent market. Right tackle Lane Johnson, who has been among the best in the game at his position since he was drafted in 2013, posted a touching farewell to Peters on social media, as he credits "The Bodyguard" for helping him mature and grow as a person and player.

After playing as a tight end in college at Arkansas, Peters went undrafted in 2004 before becoming a Pro Bowl left tackle with the Buffalo Bills. After five seasons, Peters departed for the Philadelphia Eagles, where he would spend the next 11 seasons of his career.

Peters was named a Pro Bowler seven times and a First Team All-Pro twice as an Eagle, and he was on the 2017 squad that brought a championship to Philadelphia.

The Eagles already have his replacement lined up, as they spent a 2019 first-round pick on former Washington State tackle Andre Dillard, who started four games last season.

Peters is still a more than capable left tackle, even at the age of 38. Any contender looking for a veteran bulldozer to man the left side of the line should get Peters' agent on the horn.
