Eagles Waited too Long to Hire an Offensive Coordinator and Now They're Stuck With Nothing

The Philadelphia Eagles quenched the thirst of their livid fan base when they parted ways with offensive coordinator Mike Groh after a 9-7 season. What Doug Pederson and Philly did not do, however, was fill the void in a timely manner. In fact, they didn't fill it at all.

The Eagles failed to hire a new offensive coordinator, and now it looks as if the team will play the 2020 season without one, apparently opting not to fill the position.

The Eagles interviewed a few rising young offensive minds, including USC offensive coordinator Graham Harrell, but ultimately didn't find one that was to their liking.

Not only did they start the process late, but they kept the mandate that Pederson be the one who calls the plays, which instantly makes the opening less attractive. From top to bottom, this hiring process should be help up as an example of how NOT to fill a coaching vacancy.

Groh wasn't moving the needle much, but having a warm body at offensive coordinator is still better than going into a pivotal season with...no one. If the offense stagnates in 2020, we'll have a clear reason as to why.
