Eagles Waive WR Jordan Matthews After 2 Games
By Sam Dunn
Earlier this month, the Philadelphia Eagles were forced into a second reunion with Jordan Matthews as they watched their numbers at wide receiver dwindle due to injuries.
Now, Philly must believe they're finally turning the corner and getting healthier, as Matthews' services are no longer needed. He was waived Monday.
Matthews' third tenure with Philadelphia has ended after two games. He recorded four catches for 33 yards.
A second-round pick by the Eagles in 2014, he played three seasons with them before being traded to Buffalo. He returned to Philly last season, appearing in 14 games before departing as a free agent. Matthews spent the first portion of the 2019 campaign unemployed before this third (and perhaps final) run with the team that handed him his debut.
It's back to the drawing board for Matthews, but if this news truly means that the Eagles are in for some good news on the injury front out wide, so be it.
