Day 2 of the East-West Shrine Bowl has separated the men from the boys, and Oregon WR Juwan Johnson is firmly in the former category. The 6-foot-4, 231-pound receiver spoke with the New York Giants and Kansas City Chiefs after practice.

His player profile, combined with what he showed on the field in St. Petersburg, could make him a perfect fit with Patrick Mahomes at Arrowhead.

Johnson, who never reached his potential at Penn State, left for Eugene, where he caught 30 balls for 467 yards and 6 touchdowns.

There were some initial concerns about his long speed, and they haven't been totally answered yet, but thus far he's shown a terrific set of hands, nifty route-running ability, and the physicality to bully defensive backs and win contested catches. That physical yin to the speedy yang provided by Tyreek Hill and Mecole Hardman could be a major boost for their receiver room.

Some have mentioned that Johnson could bulk up and play tight end like Ricky Seals-Jones. If anything, that makes him more valuable to Kansas City, as Andy Reid could move him around in the same way he lines Travis Kelce up all over the field.

Reid is the best in the league at deploying versatile chess pieces on offense. Be it as a physical X receiver that wins 50/50 balls or a beefed-up tight end/H-back who destroys DBs in the slot, Johnson would be a perfect fit in Kansas City.
