The Lakers held a memorial service for Kobe Bryant and his daughter, Gianna, earlier this week, an event that was attended by players, fans, and so many others who were close to the LA superstar during his life.

Unfortunately, some looked to take advantage of the situation and sell off items from the event on eBay. The good news, however, is that the company took the right stance and has begun removing these items from the site.

It's a violation of eBay policy to permit users to profit off "human tragedy or suffering." This is encouraging on the company's part, as they, too, would financially benefit from such sales as well.

Think about the kind of person you'd have to be to attempt to make money off of the passing of nine individuals in a tragic accident in any capacity. It's sick stuff.

This kind of shameless opportunism was bound to rear its head, as sad as it is. We're all better off knowing that eBay did the right thing. Hopefully, all other similar outlets will follow suit and say no to any and all exploitations of the nine lives lost in Calabasas a month ago.
