Edwin Encarnacion Adorably Rode the Plane Back From Minnesota With Gio Urshela's Plush Parrot
By Jerry Trotta
Don't look now MLB, but Edwin Encarnacion is beginning to earn his pinstripes. The three-time All-Star has been scorching hot of late and continued to deliver the goods Wednesday night against the Twins. Encarnacion belted his ninth homer with the Yankees, bringing him to 30 for the season.
More importantly, however, Gleyber Torres gifted Encarnacion, whose signature home trot features an invisible parrot perched on his right arm, with a plush parrot upon reaching the dugout. And you bet your bottom dollar that the vet slugger kept the bird ever-close on the flight to Boston.
Gio Urshela purchased the parrot for his teammate, and after his 30th round-tripper of the year, Torres happily gifted him the stuffed animal.
Even the most biased of Yankee haters can even admit how captivating and adorable this photo is. Edwin even made sure to ensure that his new pal was all strapped in and safe for the plane ride!
We'll hazard a guess and say that Encarnacion is enjoying life as a Yankee. Not only is the 36-year-old poised to make a deep postseason run and just reached the 30-home run clip for the eighth straight season, but he's clearly connecting well with his teammates, who have welcomed him with open arms, and even the adorable gift.
