Elgton Jenkins is Looking Like a Complete Steal for the Packers
By Jerry Trotta
When you have an all-time great quarterback like Aaron Rodgers under center, it goes without saying that you should draft superior offensive lineman to keep him upright. That's a given.
Everybody knows as long as Rodgers is healthy enough to work his magic, the Green Bay Packers have a shot at going all the way.
However, when the Pack drafted Elgton Jenkins in the second round (No. 44 overall) in the 2019 NFL Draft in April, they probably didn't think he'd be THIS good. Well, the Mississippi State product is shaping up to be one of the true steals of the draft.
That "best guard of the generation" Peter Bukowski is talking about is Baltimore Ravens' world-beater Marshal Yanda, a seven-time Pro-Bowler.
To put Jenkins dominance into perspective, Yanda is the only OG in the league with a better win rate in terms of pass blocking than Jenkins.
That's right, folks, Jenkins' percentage is higher than that of All-Pro talents Zack Martin, David DeCastro and Quenton Nelson, among others.
You might call landing an OL gem in the second round genuine luck, but Green Bay's general manager Brian Gutekunst will tell you that he expected Jenkins to be as good as he's been.
Whatever the case, it's about time we start paying closer attention to Jenkins' significant role in the Packers success in 2019.
