Eli Manning attended a memorial service for former Giants and University of Kentucky quarterback Jared Lorenzen, who died earlier this month due to complications from heart and kidney issues at the age of 38. He was accompanied by a group of fellow Giants.

Manning and Lorenzen were teammates in New York from 2004 to 2007, and won Super Bowl XLII. Manning's attendance at the somber event honoring Lorenzen was appreciated by many, especially the fallen QB's family.

Lorenzen's father, Joe, spoke on the impact that Manning made on Jared's son, Tayden.

“It’s something you don’t forget as a 9-year-old,’’ Joe told the New York Post.

Even though it's been over a decade since Manning and Lorenzen were teammates, there was a clear and established connection made between the two. A championship group needs a special kind of chemistry to make it to the promised land, and it's evident that the inimitable backup quarterback was an appreciated member of the squad.

Lorenzen appeared on the Indianapolis Colts' practice squad following his time with the Giants, and made a transition to indoor football, which he played until 2014. It's safe to say that there will never be another quite like him.
