Empire State Building Will Feature Awesome Eli Manning Tribute on Saturday
By Jackson Thompson
The retirement of New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning marks the conclusion of one of the most accomplished careers in New York sports history. The city won't let his career accomplishments, and it has plans to honor the 39-year-old signal caller on Saturday, in a truly special way.
On Saturday evening, the Empire State Building will light up in navy, white and red lights with a No. 10 on the mast in Manning's honor.
The most recent New York athlete to be honored by the building's lights was Derek Jeter. In late September of 2014, the building sported blue and white lights with a number two rotating on the mast in honor of the Yankee captain who retired that season.
It won't be the first time Manning lit up the Empire State Building in Giants colors however. It has been lit in preparation for a number of Giants playoff games and in celebration of even more wins, including tributes to the two Super Bowl victories over Tom Brady and the New England Patriots that Manning delivered in 2008 and 2012.
What an extraordinary way to cap off an extraordinary career in the Big Apple.
