Every Power 5 School That Has Never Hosted College GameDay
By Michael Luciano
Lost in the shuffle of Iowa State's heartbreaking loss to hated rivals Iowa was the fact that ESPN's College Gameday made their first trip to Ames. Now that the Cyclones have been checked off, only these ten Power 5 schools have yet to get a visit from the folks at the worldwide leader.
10. Syracuse
Given how the Orange have become one of the most exciting programs in the ACC under Dino Babers, Cuse should be a prime candidate to host an episode. We need Lee Corso in the Carrier Dome.
9. Maryland
The Terrapins have waffled between average and anonymous in recent years, but Gameday should come calling if Mike Locksley can sustain their energetic, high-octane offense.
8. Cal
Justin Wilcox has the Golden Bears playing some aggressive defense, and a win over Washington should have piqued national interest in Berkeley. He'll probably get Gameday to come before he leaves.
7. Virginia
Bronco Mendenhall and the Cavaliers are playing some inspired football of late. The ACC Coastal is wide open, so don't be surprised if Virginia finally breaks their Gameday-less streak in 2019.
6. Minnesota
Now the PJ Fleck has put his stamp on the program, the Golden Gophers are finally a viable team in the Big Ten West. Attracting Gameday, however, might need to wait until they upset some of the heavyweights.
5. Wake Forest
The Demon Deacons might lack the national exposure of some other ACC teams, but Jamie Newman, Dave Clawson and Co. would woo ESPN to Winston-Salem if their offense continues to produce and light up the screen.
4. Illinois
Lovie Smith and the Illini might finally have a quarterback in Brandon Peters, but home losses to teams like Eastern Michigan will make getting ESPN down to Champaign quite the task.
3. Duke
Following the loss of Daniel Jones, the program's future is in disarray, which could mean a couple more years of Duke in the basement of the ACC and without Gameday.
2. Kansas
The Jayhawks have actually won two whole games, one of which was a domination of Boston College on the road. Les Miles has them looking at least like a D-1 team, and they might take notice if they play Texas or Oklahoma in Lawrence.
1. Rutgers
Let's be honest, why would they ever come here?
