Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver DeSean Jackson is perceived to be out for the remainder of the season with a core injury that required surgery which was re-aggravated in Week 9. To replace him on the roster, the Eagles might be looking at a familiar face.

According to Jimmy Kempsi of The Philly Voice, former Eagles receiver Jordan Matthews is in Philadelphia for a physical.

Matthews was drafted by Philadelphia in 2014, spending three seasons with the team before joining the Bills in 2017. He returned to the Eagles in 2018 and played in 14 games before moving on this past offseason. Should he re-join the team, this would be his third stint in Philly. Most recently, Matthews was cut by the San Francisco 49ers in October, though he didn't make an appearance for the team.

In 60 career games with the Eagles, Matthews logged 245 receptions for 2,973 yards and 21 touchdowns, including 20 receptions, 300 yards and two touchdowns last year with Philadelphia.

Matthews is not the same type of receiver as Jackson, especially from a speed standpoint, but he's familiar with quarterback Carson Wentz and is a better option than the backup receivers the Eagles have on the roster at the moment.
