Ex-NFL Lineman Justin Bannan Reportedly Arrested After Allegedly Shooting Woman in Colorado
By Jerry Trotta
Truly disturbing news out of Boulder, Colorado materialized on Thursday, as former NFL defensive tackle Justin Bannan was arrested for attempting to murder a woman, per the Daily Camera.
Bannan, a former longtime Buffalo Bill and Baltimore Raven, allegedly shot a woman -- who authorities say works in the same building as the former pro -- in the arm.
Police reported that the 40-year-old is facing charges that include "attempted first-degree murder, first-degree assault extreme indifference, first-degree assault with intent to cause serious bodily injury, and first-degree burglary."
The woman, who's identity has not been revealed at this time, was transported to a local hospital with injuries that are said to be non-life threatening.
It's unclear as to what led to the shooting, but Bannan revealed to police upon his arrest that he did not mean to shoot the woman, as he claims that he was simply hiding from the Russian mafia.
When authorities picked him up, Bannan was allegedly carrying two loaded handguns and a $20 bill that was stained with a white substance, which ultimately tested positive for cocaine.
If you're confused, it's OK, because we are utterly befuddled. How on earth does the Russian mafia work into this?
To be honest, we're just relieved to know that the woman escaped the incident without suffering lethal injuries.
Authorities clearly have a lot of details to sort out, and we will deliver updates on the matter as soon as they are provided.
