Ex-Phillies Hitting Coach John Mallee's Wikipedia Gets Savaged After Firing
By Ryan Giglio
Former Philadelphia Phillies manager and 2008 World Series champion Charlie Manuel is returning to the Phillies dugout after the club decided to part ways with former hitting coach John Mallee.
While some are disappointed in the news, some sure are happy Mallee has been replaced.
This undoubtedly includes an internet prankster, who wasted no time heading to Mallee's wikipedia page:
Mallee's page says he was fired "To the delight of the entire Philadelphia fanbase..."
After adding Jean Segura and former National League MVP's Andrew McCutchen and Bryce Harper in the offseason, Philadelphia currently sits only two games over .500 and recently slipped to fourth in the NL East.
In 2019, the Phillies offense ranks below league average in nearly every offensive category. Mallee's analytically-inclined way of teaching was clearly not working in the City of Brotherly Love.
There has been a ton of disappointment for Phillies fan in the past two years, especially after the team's collapse in the second half of 2018. Philadelphia is known to have some of the most passionate fans in sports, and Mallee's Wiki page is validation for their reputation.
