The Boston Red Sox need to make some drastic changes, after their poor pitching across the board cost them a shot at the playoffs, and they are going within the organization to find the next rockstar pitching coach.

Former MLB starter Dave Bush, who has been working with the Red Sox since 2016 as a pitching development analyst, is the favorite to fill Boston's pitching vacancy.

Bush piled up a 56-69 record with a 4.73 ERA in nine big league seasons, which were spent with the Milwaukee Brewers, Toronto Blue Jays, and Texas Rangers as a finesse arm. And who knows more about the art of pitching than those guys?

Bush served as a pitching coordinator in their minor league system, and has apparently shown enough acumen while working with Boston's prospects that the organization feels comfortable allowing him to work with the likes of Chris Sale and David Price.

It certainly wouldn't be a retread hire, but the Red Sox need to try something different after this nightmare season, and Bush might be the right guy to shake up the Boston staff.
