Ezekiel Elliott and Jerry Jones Troll us All With Amazing Shirt at Cowboys Contract Press Conference
By Sean Facey
It's amazing what $90 million can do for saving a relationship!
Dallas Cowboys Jerry Jones and star running back Ezekiel Elliott turned into bitter enemies during contract negotiations, though they apparently never spoke directly throughout the process. Both owner and player alike took shots at each other in the media, with Jones' "Zeke Who?" comment standing out as the most scathing of them all.
But in a show of fun during their press conference, the two trolled everyone by holding up a shirt that had Jones' phrase on the front, and a retort on the back.
It's good to see that the two of them are already putting their miniature war behind them. But again, it's pretty easy to do when one party gets to be the highest-paid running back in the NFL, and the other gets the focal point of his team's offense back for the foreseeable future.
With Elliott once again locked in as the first option in the backfield, expectations have reached a high water mark for the Cowboys. They must improve on last year's Divisional Round playoff loss in order for this season to be considered a success.
They have all the pieces to do it. Between Elliott, quarterback Dak Prescott and wide receiver Amari Cooper (still here), the offense should perform at a high level. The defense, guided by coordinator Rod Marinelli, has no shortage of talent, either.
And finally, there are no more contract distractions. Everyone can just focus on football, rather than when (or if) someone is even going to suit up.
How this season and the ones beyond play out remains to be seen, but at least for now, Jones and Elliott have set aside their qualms and come together in a hilarious and fun way.
