Ezekiel Elliott Drops Statement Apologizing for Las Vegas Incident Following Roger Goodell Meeting
By Michael Luciano
After months of silence, Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott has finally released an official apology for an offseason incident involving a security guard at a music festival in Las Vegas that saw him end up at least briefly in handcuffs.
Elliott took responsibility for his role in the incident and put the onus on him to avoid finding himself in these situations again.
This comes after NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell met with Elliott regarding his behavior. After already serving a six-game suspension in 2017 for a separate matter involving alleged domestic violence, Zeke and Goodell haven't exactly always been on the best of terms.
While it remains to be seen if Zeke will be formally disciplined by the Cowboys or the league, it is worth noting that while he was not arrested or charged with any crime. Of course, the former Ohio State star is displaying some repentance and guilt all the same.
After leading the league in rushing for the second time in three seasons, it goes without saying that losing Zeke could be the death knell for the Cowboys offense. However, if another offseason rolls around and he gets into trouble once again, Jerry Jones, Jason Garrett, and the Cowboys need to have a long, reflective talk about the feasibility of keeping Elliott in Dallas long term.
