Ezekiel Elliott's Contract Demands Reportedly Revealed
By Karl Rasmussen
The Dallas Cowboys have been working on an extension for prized running back Ezekiel Elliott for much of the offseason, but with a bit more than a week until the NFL season kicks off, the sides remain at odds.
After rejecting Dallas' reported offer that would have seen Zeke become the second-highest paid player at his position, Mike Garafolo reported Wednesday that Elliott's reps won't accept a deal unless it would make him the league's top earner at running back.
Elliott is currently holding out from the Cowboys' training camp and there's a real risk that his absence could extend into the regular season.
The star running back is in Cabo training with Hall of Fame RB Marshall Faulk, who issued some pretty interesting comments on Elliott's holdout situation.
Faulk asked ESPN, “The question is, are the Cowboys willing to have him miss games because they don’t believe he should be the highest-paid RB?”
While the Cowboys' initial reported offer would have seen Zeke earning an AAV of anywhere between Le'Veon Bell's $13.125 million and Todd Gurley's $14.375 million, the former No. 4 pick has his sights set on being the top dog.
It's now up to the Cowboys to decide whether they'll up the ante and match his demands or allow him to extend his holdout into the regular season.
