The Atlanta Falcons have claimed QB/WR hybrid Danny Etling off waivers after Etling was released by the Patriots on Tuesday.

Etling played quarterback at Purdue and LSU before being selected 219th overall by New England in the 2018 NFL Draft.

Etling switched to wide receiver at the start of training camp this year, only for the experiment to be cut short by his release. Etling holds the longest quarterback rush in Patriots preseason history, running for an 86-yard touchdown last year. The Indiana native also has a Super Bowl ring after being part of the Patriots' roster last season.

At 25 years old and versatility in his back pocket, Etling still has time to make some noise in the league. Accumulating over 7,000 passing yards throughout his collegiate career, Etling has clear passing prowess as well as the ability to run the ball.

The Falcons continue to make moves leading up to the regular season, with their one before this featuring another with the Pats, as they exchanged tight end Eric Saubert for a 2020 draft pick.

As for Etling, he's an enticing prospect behind starting QB Matt Ryan as the Falcons look to bounce back from last year's sub-.500 season.
