Falcons Oddly Cite NFL Insider Tom Pelissero's Report When Announcing the Release of Desmond Trufant
By Karl Rasmussen

Typically when a team's official Twitter account reports on a transaction, it comes after having received official word from a member of the franchise. Well, that didn't seem to be the case on Monday, when the Atlanta Falcons revealed the team's plans to cut veteran DB Desmond Trufant.
The Falcons' Twitter account oddly opted to cite a report from Tom Pelissero when alerting fans of the roster move, an odd decision considering most would think the actual team would be able to provide the information on its own.

Well congrats, Tom, you've officially beaten the Falcons at their own game. Getting cited as the source of a Falcons roster move by the franchise itself is a historic feat in the world of sports journalism.
Fans were equally perplexed by the tweet, pondering why the Falcons reported the news in this fashion.

The new NFL league year hasn't even gotten underway yet, but the Falcons have already managed to thoroughly confuse their fanbase.

Unlike the Toronto Blue Jays' Twitter account, which reports roster moves with authority, the Falcons opted to take the back seat to Pelissero, which resulted in this highly bemusing tweet.
