A torn ACL will sideline newly-acquired Falcons safety JJ Wilcox for the duration of the 2019 season, a blow to the depth in the Atlanta Falcons' secondary.
Following a 2019 season in which Wilcox played for both the Indianapolis Colts and New York Jets, the Falcons were excited about the prospect of having Wilcox as the third safety behind Keanu Neal and Ricardo Allen.
#Falcons safety JJ Wilcox tore his ACL in practice today and will miss the entire 2019 season, per @RapSheet. Wilcox signed with Atlanta in April. Now won't even take a snap with them.

Wilcox, who played his college ball at Georgia Southern University, talked just yesterday about how excited he was to return home:
Wilcox's injury will place pressure on the Falcons' defense to make up for his absence, and should Neal or Allen go down with an ailment, the absence of the 28-year-old will become the most apparent.
After an underwhelming 2018-2019 season, the Falcons will hope to get back on track come training camp. Let's see what Dan Quinn, Matt Ryan and the Falcons' defense have up their sleeve, as they'll have to produce some magic to quickly replace Wilcox.
