Falcons Signing Former Vikings First-Round Bust Laquon Treadwell Proves They're the Laughingstock of the NFC South
By Thomas Carannante
Another free agent domino has fallen! The Atlanta Falcons have gone out and bolstered their offense by signing ...
... Laquon Treadwell?
The former Minnesota Vikings first-round pick is one of the biggest busts we've seen in recent years. After being selected No. 23 overall in the 2016 NFL Draft, he's recorded just 65 receptions for 701 yards and two touchdowns in 53 games! And this is who the Falcons decided to add after losing Mohamed Sanu last year? How is Treadwell supposed to make an impact alongside Julio Jones and Calvin Ridley if he couldn't even do so with Stefon Diggs and Adam Thielen?
While the Falcons got their hands on Todd Gurley and Dante Fowler this offseason, a signing like this, as well as replacing Austin Hooper by trading actual draft picks for Hayden Hurst (who has 43 catches and 512 yards in two total seasons), is the reason why Atlanta will never be repaired after blowing their 28-3 lead to the Patriots in the Super Bowl.
And honestly, we're not sure what's worse: these moves, or the fact that the Falcons' Twitter account keeps citing reporters when announcing the team's moves.
Uncomfortable rule-following.
Maybe Treadwell turns it around and makes us all look like fools, but he's had four years to show any semblance of being an effective wide receiver and just never put it all together. If a successful team like the Vikings couldn't get it out of him, how can a team that's 14-18 over the last two seasons?
