First-Time Hall of Fame Writer Admits Absurd 'Jeter-Only' Ballots Are Scaring Him Away From Voting

Some of the first few Hall of Fame ballots are causing mass hysteria among baseball fans, and rightfully so. Two separate voters have already revealed that they'll be voting only for Derek Jeter on this year's ballot, and it turns out that their ridiculous choices are now influencing other voters as well.

Specifically, first-time voter Sean Forman has seen the "Jeter-only" ballots and is starting to worry about his plans to vote for the maximum of 10 players.

There are so many players deserving of Hall of Fame honors on this ballot, but the choice by some insane writers to vote exclusively for Jeter might end up depriving them of their reward.

They're literally scaring people away from voting! Their ballots are now changing other ballots! That's how out of hand this has gotten.

It's hard not to be intimidated by the one-vote ballots on your first time around, especially when two of the first four publicly revealed ballots fall under that category. It makes you stop and reconsider what these guys know that you might not.

And in doing that, it deprives elite players of the opportunity to rightfully be enshrined in Cooperstown. It's one thing to vote only for Derek Jeter, but it's quite another to go public with it in an attempt to push others into doing the same.

These insane ballots are having a major impact on the early stages of the voting process in the worst possible way.
