Florida Losing 4-Star RB to Georgia Hurts Even More Than You Think

The Florida Gators capped off a nice 2019 season with a victory in the Orange Bowl. Yet the college football recruiting season never ends for coaches and the Gators are now facing an issue at one key position.

There were rumors that 4-star running back Lovasea Carroll was considering going back on his commitment from Georgia and choosing Florida. He addressed those himself and said the rumors of his indecisiveness were true. Unfortunately for Florida fans, he is still set to become a Bulldog.

The Gators were not Carroll's top choice and it may just seem like a 4-star player got away. But the situation is far more serious considering the lack of running backs being signed by the program.

It is almost hard to believe a prestigious program like Florida has trouble signing running backs. Maybe it is Dan Mullen's fault, or perhaps the program needs to target lesser recruits. Clearly the pitch was not good enough to land someone like Carroll, who said his best chance for success is at Georgia.

There is still time to get a running back in the 2021 class. However, this is a bad sign if a player sees Georgia as the superior program.

Carroll likely could have played sooner at Florida and his decision doesn't just mean a rival beat the Gators out for a recruit. It also means the program is way behind in adding talent at running back and that could derail the offense in the near future.
