Former 5-Star Georgia LB Brenton Cox Transfers to Florida
By Sam Dunn

This is sure to ratchet up one of the nastiest rivalries in the south! Brenton Cox, a former 5-star linebacker who recently finished his freshman year with the Georgia Bulldogs, is making a big change. Multiple reports confirmed Friday that Cox has transferred to the University of Florida.

A 5-star strongside pass rusher out of Stockbridge, Ga., Cox was rated by 247Sports as the second-best prospect at his position in the 2018 recruiting class, as well as the No. 23 overall prospect nationally. He initially chose UGA in December of 2017 after decommitting from Ohio State.
After one season in Athens, he's now relocating to Gainesville. This is authentically a massive victory for Gators head coach Dan Mullen and his staff-- and a fascinating wrinkle for one of the most heated border wars in college football.

As a freshman, Cox appeared in 11 games for the Bulldogs. Per NCAA rules, he'll need to sit out a year before becoming eligible to play, at which point he'd be a redshirt sophomore.
