Former Bears GM Phil Emery Looks Unrecognizable as a Falcons Scout
By Michael Luciano
Former Chicago Bears GM Phil Emery, who you might remember from those incredibly successful Marc Trestman years, managed to land on his feet after getting the axe in the Windy City, latching on with the Atlanta Falcons as a scout.
However, he might look just a little bit different to the clean shaven, short-haired guy you remember him as.
Kris Kristofferson? Kenny Rogers? Tom Hanks in "Cast Away"?
In defense of Emery, having to watch Marc Trestman try to coach while Jay Cutler heaves up interception after interception would have most people looking like Rip Torn as well.
Maybe Emery has been taking lessons from former Mavericks and Warriors coach Don Nelson, who similarly has gone with a more unkempt look since his retirement from coaching.
Emery has been in football since 1981 and has been either a scout, director of scouting or GM since 1998. Be warned, Draft Twitter. This is what happens when you grind tape nonstop for 21 years.
