The Diamondbacks are adding some reinforcements to their pitching staff, as the team will be bringing in veteran pitcher Junior Guerra on a one-year pact with a club option for 2021.

Guerra, 35, had been a valuable member of the Brewers pitching staff for these past few seasons, as he started 60 games for the Brewers in four campaigns. Guerra's best season as a Brewer came in 2016 when he went 9-3 with a 2.81 ERA. He spent last season in a relief role for the club.

It's unclear whether the Diamondbacks will be deploying Guerra as a starter or as a reliever, regardless he should provide valuable innings for the team as they look to make a run in the NL West. The addition of Guerra is just the latest in a series of smart moves by the brass in Arizona.

As for Milwaukee, they will likely miss Guerra's veteran presence in the bullpen, as he was a real team leader during his time as a Brewer. Versatile pitchers with limited tread on their arms are a rarity in today's MLB, so look out for Guerra as a potential steal this offseason.
