Former Browns Executive Sashi Brown Resurfaces With Washington Wizards

Sashi Brown has finally rebounded after being fired from the NFL's Cleveland Browns back in December 2017.

It was announced on Monday that the former Browns Executive Vice President of football operations has been hired by the NBA's Washington Wizards as their chief planning and operations officer.

Though normal for executives to bounce around different teams throughout their careers, it's less common for them to jet to entirely different leagues. The last notable time this happened was in 2016, when New York Mets Vice President of player development and scouting Paul DePodesta left New York to join...the Browns as their chief strategy officer.

Brown's hiring is part of a reshaped Wizards front office that is in the process of overhauling Washington's roster. The team has also made Tommy Sheppard their permanent general manger, after holding the interim label since April, when Ernie Grunfeld was let go. Washington finished 11th in the Eastern Conference last season with a 32-50 record. Sheppard has been with the organization for almost 20 years.

The revamped front office will look to infuse the team with young and inexpensive talent over the next couple of years to get back to relevancy in the Eastern Conference. Sheppard picked Gonzaga forward Rui Hachimura ninth overall in last month's NBA draft, and has acquired a plethora of second-round picks in three different trades.

Brown is best known for lending an analytical base to an impatient Cleveland football team known for losing and dysfunction, and though he's now gone, his master plan, in many ways, worked. The Wizards are hoping that Brown will be able to help them after their own season of losing and drama.
