Former Chiefs RB Charcandrick West Announces Retirement From Football

The life span of a running back in the National Football League tends to be famously (and/or brutally) short. Fortunately, Charcandrick West can boast that he logged five seasons for the Kansas City Chiefs and had a nice run as a sneaky fantasy football handcuff before it came time to hang 'em up, all despite going undrafted out of college.
In a Tuesday afternoon tweet, the 28-year-old West announced that he's retiring from the game and moving on to a new chapter.

West latched on with Kansas City in 2014 as a special teamer, and announced himself as a proper running back one year later. After franchise star Jamaal Charles tore his ACL, West went on to take No. 1 back duties and led the team with 634 yards on the ground, adding five total touchdowns.
He added 481 total yards from scrimmage in 2016, appearing in 15 games. By the time Kareem Hunt hit the scene the following season, West's value became limited. His last appearance came in the 2018 postseason, and he was signed and released from the Indianapolis Colts' practice squad before the current campaign.

Charcandrick West has got to be considered a success story. Entering the big time as an unsung prospect out of Abilene Christian only to take the reins from Jamaal Charles and look the part as a No. 1 back ain't small potatoes. Enjoy your retirement, Charcandrick. You surely won't need to pay for too many beers around KC.
