Former Chiefs RB Larry Johnson is Disputing Official Reports of Death Tolls From Mass Shootings
By Parker White
Yesterday in El Paso, Texas, there was a horrifying mass shooting at a Walmart that killed 20 people, with dozens of others were wounded. Hours later, another mass shooting took place in Dayton, Ohio. Nine more lost their lives.
So, what was former Kansas City Chiefs running back Larry Johnson talking about on his Twitter?
If he read it correctly, it mentions "two mass shootings" and that 29 people were killed between both incidents. Well, Johnson didn't realize that until after he sent out his tweet. To his credit, he did clarify his mistake.
But that doesn't explain away what very much appears to be a conspiracy theory about the Freemasons and the occult. Seriously, Larry, numerology?
This is just another example of social media's unfortunate ability to permit others to disseminate opinions without knowing all the facts. It's purely emotional. Given the awful circumstances yesterday and early this morning, you can understand everyone going to their corners and searching for answers however they possibly can. But doing so doesn't solve any problem. Instead, spinning these yarns makes you look like an idiot.
Lesson learned-- right, Larry?
We can only hope.
