Former Colts and Packers LB Antonio Morrison Charged with Felony Following Troubling Battery Arrest

The NFL's public relations office sure has been busy this week, and for all the wrong reasons. First, cornerbacks DeAndre Baker and Quinton Dunbar faced arrest warrants stemming from an alleged armed robbery incident, and both later turned themselves in. Elsewheree, Washingon Redskins wide receiver Cody Latimer was arrested for second-degree assault and illegal discharge of a firearm.

The drama only continued as Saturday rolled on.

According to the Indianapolis Star, former Colts and Green Bay Packers linebacker Antonio Morrison was taken into custody this week on a charge of felony intimidation.

Police in Carmel, Ind. were called after Morrison behaved erratically in front of his neighbors. According to court documents, he allegedly accused a neighbor of "stepping in his space," and proceeded to make lewd comments about him on April 22. The very next day, that same neighbor called the police again, where he claimed Morrison threatened to kill him. He allegedly made a similar threat to a neighbor earlier that month as well.

The drama only continued for Morrison. Last Sunday, the former linebacker made an emergency call to the local fire department, but once they arrived, he downplayed the issue. He refused to let firefighters in his home. They spotted a shotgun through his doorway.

Then, on Thursday, police arrested Morrison on preliminary charges for battery and battery against a public safety official. Neither of these charges have been filed formally as of this writing.

Morrison a 2016 fourth-round selection by the Colts out of the University of Florida, spent two seasons with the team before they traded him to the Packers. After one year on the roster, Green Bay released Morrison in 2019. In his three-year career, Morrison tallied 209 tackles, three quarterback hits, and one sack.
