Former Cowboys DB Morris Claiborne Suspended for First 4 Weeks of NFL Season

If Morris Claiborne does end up signing with a team, he's going to have to sit out for the first quarter of the season.
The free agent defensive back and former Dallas Cowboy has been suspended for the first four games of the 2019 NFL season for violating the league's substance abuse policy.
Rumors swirled last week that Claiborne was appealing disciplinary action from the league, but his appeal has been denied, and he will serve the suspension at the outset of the season.
A seven-year NFL veteran, Claiborne spent the last two seasons with the New York Jets after spending the first five years of his career with the Cowboys, the team that drafted him sixth overall back in 2012.
He's coming off of a one-year, $7 million contract that he signed with the Jets prior to the 2018 season.
He has seven career interceptions (two of which came in 2018), 49 passes defended and 251 total tackles. He turned into a model of consistency while with the Jets, starting in 15 games in each of his two seasons with the team.
Claiborne's not going to reach the 15-game mark this year, regardless of whether or not he gets a shot at playing at all.
