Former Florida State and Kentucky LB Xavier Peters Will Transfer Yet Again
By Alexander Wolz
They often say the third time is the charm. That may very well be the case for linebacker Xavier Peters, who will be entering the transfer portal yet again.
After just a single season in Kentucky, Peters' college football career has yet to take off, and he is hoping a change in scenery is exactly what he needs for a recovery.
Peters has not lived up to his collegiate expectations thus far. The 4-star prospect and Under Armour All-American in high school committed to Florida State looking to become a pivotal piece of their defense.
But Peters' freshman campaign was riddled with problems. After being suspended for violating team policies and playing in just two games, Peters redshirted the season and transferred to Kentucky to move closer to his son. After earning his eligibility on Sept. 10, a similar fate fell to Peters in Kentucky, as he played in a mere three games.
Now, Peters looks to take a step back from Division I football and sign with Garden City Community College, gearing up for a return to the big stage in 2021.
This is not all bad news for Peters. Even though he may be moving down to junior college, perhaps a year of growth and development is exactly what he needs to mature and prepare for the playing career many were hoping he would have coming out of high school.
