Former San Francisco Giants outfielder Angel Págan had to be rescued at sea Tuesday morning. Yes, read that sentence again. After his boat was flipped over by a 15-foot wave off the coast of Puerto Rico, he found himself in a dire situation. Luckily, help was eventually on the way.
Pagán was not alone during his sea adventure. Former New York Mets minor leaguer Orlando Roman and a 16-year-old minor was on the boat when it capsized near Cibuco Beach in Vega Alta, Puerto Rico.
Luckily, all three were rescued. Pagán didn't need any medical attention, but Roman was treated for head trauma.
Angel Págan played in the MLB for the Cubs, Mets and Giants. In 11 seasons, he accumulated 1143 hits and had a .280 batting average. Pagán was part of two World Series teams with the Giants in 2012 and 2014.
Roman was drafted by the Mets in 1999 and bounced around the minor leagues his whole career. The highest level he reached was Triple-A.
