Former NFL Lineman Mike Stensrud Arrested for Carrying Gun While Drunk at County Board Meeting
Well, it looks like retirement from the NFL for some isn't going as smoothly as it is for Peyton Manning. Just ask former lineman Mike Stensrud about that.
According to the Associated Press, Stensrud has been sentenced to two days in jail after he showed up to a meeting of the Board of Supervisors in Winnebago County, Iowa intoxicated and with a pistol on him. Not smart, dude.
Per the report, Stensrud drove to this meeting, which took place on May 21, reeking of alcohol. A field sobriety test was given to him on the scene, and he blew above the legal limit. In addition to a drunk driving charge, he also informed the arresting officers he had a gun in his possession.
Stensrud was a second-round pick of the then-Houston Oilers back in 1979. He also suited up for the Chiefs, Vikings, Bucs and Redskins before calling it a career in 1989.
Stensrud will spend two days in jail, and has also been given two years probation. It is our sincere hope that this shameful misadventure is the wake-up call he needs to get him to clean up his act.
