Former Indiana DL Chris Beaty Shot and Killed During Indianapolis Protests
By Jerry Trotta

Over the past week, destructive protests have broken out across the country in the wake of the wrongful death of George Floyd, an unarmed black man who was killed while in police custody. The outrage was sparked largely due to the damning footage with the four Minneapolis police officers.
As social media and local news outlets have shown, some of these demonstrations look incredibly dangerous, and unfortunately, one claimed the life of a former Indiana Hoosier.
According to police reports obtained by Sports Illustrated, former Indiana football player Chris Beaty was killed during the violence in Indianapolis on Saturday.

Beaty was a defensive lineman for the Hoosiers for four seasons and remained a prominent figure in the community as a promoter after he graduated. Our thoughts go out to his family during this trying time.
