Last week, football fans learned some tragic news: Kentucky Wildcats and New York Giants quarterback Jared Lorenzen had passed away at the age of 38.

Now, former members of the Louisville Cardinals football team are putting their longtime rivalry with Kentucky aside in honor of the unforgettable QB who died far too soon. They're going to help pay for his funeral.

"We wanted to be an example of how, no matter if you played for the blue or the red, how important it is for us to come together and support one another, both in and out of sports,” former Louisville offensive lineman Jamon Brown said. "The rivalry between the schools is intense and it’s great, but at the end of the day, all that doesn’t matter. What matters is that you remember that we’re all in this game of life together, whether you played for the blue or the red."

Brown, whose foundation is donating $5,000, is not the only former Cardinal to help with the funeral costs. Deion Branch and Chris Redman are also among those donating to help cover funeral costs. A true display of sportsmanship and humanity in sad and difficult times.
