Former MLB Pitcher Dontrelle Willis Claps Back at Tomi Lahren Over Weak USWNT Take
By Scott Rogust
It was a day of celebration on Wednesday, as the United States Women's National Team had their ticker tape parade in New York City. Many trekked their way to City Hall in NYC to meet the outspoken World Cup champions, who were vocal about earning the same pay as their male counterparts.
Perhaps the biggest moment was star Megan Rapinoe giving a speech about equality and how society can improve as a whole.
While there were plenty of supporters of Rapinoe, there were some detractors, namely Fox News correspondent Tomi Lahren. The polarizing host sent out a tweet, saying that playing soccer doesn't make anyone of the members of the USWNT heroes.
Of course, the comment section was very divisive. Some backed Lahren's beliefs, while a vast number of individuals derided her from attempting to take away from the USWNT's moment.
Former MLB pitcher Dontrelle Willis was not a fan of Lahren's tweet. In fact, the former World Series Champion sent a rather simple GIF expressing his feelings.
The World Cup winners received a ton of criticism in the past month. Whether it was for being vocal about equal pay, to "scoring too many goals" against Thailand, and even "excessive goal celebrations."
Regardless of the endless fault-finding, the women's team silenced the outside noise, won their fourth World Cup and now continue to fight for the pay many believe they deserve.
