Former MLB Player Says League is Preparing for 'a Lot' of Fans at 2020 Playoff Games
By Michael Luciano
2020 is so strange that a former Minnesota Twins infielder has become one of the premier sources for information about the restart of the 2020 MLB season amid the coronavirus pandemic.
Trevor Plouffe, who saw his rumor about a June 10-July 1 Spring Training/regular season combo confirmed by Ken Rosenthal before the financial end of things changed everything up, has another nugget of information related to what the season will look like.
Plouffe now claims that the league is planning on "a lot" of fans in the stands by the time the playoffs come around, per a front office source.
Jimmy O'Brien, the mastermind of Jomboy Media, supported Plouffe's idea, claiming that things could "go back to normal" if there isn't an uptick in coronavirus cases after the police brutality protests across the country. Of course, that's a major "if" to have to wrangle.
Plouffe also asserted that the owners are looking at a 60-game regular season, as that is the perfect number to both have a playoff race with some integrity and quickly get into the more lucrative postseason.
While this plan is by no means a sure thing just yet, Plouffe is correct in claiming that the postseason is a huge money maker for owners, and they'll do everything in their power to squeeze every last cent out of the playoffs. The league has reportedly discussed all different levels of possible crowd size, and if it's deemed safe, you can bet that they'll implement something.
