Put it on the record that we wholeheartedly back the notion that Dak Prescott has shown enough on the gridiron to prove that he is deserving of a lucrative contract extension.

Whether he deserves to be the highest paid gunslinger in the NFL, however, is an ENTIRELY different story. Some folks, though, think his new deal will break all sorts of records.

Mike Tannenbaum, who previously served as general manager of the Jets and the vice president of football operations for the Dolphins, recently predicted that Prescott will sign a mammoth 10-year, $400 million extension with the Cowboys.

We don't even know what to think. We're supposed to believe that this is the same guy that was trusted with running two separate NFL franchises?

Sure, Dak was reportedly seeking a $40 million per year figure prior to the start of the 2019 season, but the possibility of Jerry Jones awarding him with that was swiftly revoked by pundits across the league.

Does Tannenbaum not realize how drastically his forecasted contract for Dak could handicap Dallas?

The Cowboys are fresh off paying Ezekiell Elliott, Demarcus Lawrence AND Jaylon Smith. Giving Prescott $400 million across 10 years (!) would squander any chance the franchise would have at extending Amari Cooper, you know, the receiver that has aided Dak's ascension to an elite quarterback.

Tannenbaum is simply off his rocker with this prognosis, and the sad part of it all is that he was dead serious.
