Former Packers CB Al Harris Joining Cowboys Coaching Staff
By Karl Rasmussen
Mike McCarthy's coaching staff in Dallas is beginning to shape up, and he's bringing some familiar faces with him.
In an addition to the defensive side of the ball, McCarthy has lured former Packers cornerback Al Harris to the Cowboys as an assistant secondary coach.
Harris previous coached for six seasons as an assistant for the Kansas City Chiefs, a team that has made tremendous strides defensively in 2019. Now, he'll hope to further improve the Cowboys' secondary, which features the likes of Byron Jones, Xavier Woods and Chidobe Awuzie.
Harris played for the Packers from 2003-2009, recording 14 interceptions and 300 tackles during his tenure in Green Bay. He played 14 seasons in the NFL, from 1998-2011, having retired after a season with the Atlanta Falcons.
While McCarthy will have some familiar faces around him on the coaching staff, including Joe Philbin and Harris, it will be the first time he's not in charge of calling plays, as he's handed that responsibility to Kellen Moore.
