Former Patriots CB Asante Samuel Claims Cam Newton Isn't a 'Belichick Type of Guy'

The New England Patriots seem to have decided on either Jarrett Stidham or Brian Hoyer as their starting quarterback for 2020 despite a former MVP in Cam Newton remaining on the market.

Despite the natural fit from a football perspective, former Patriots cornerback Asante Samuel thinks that Cam is a square peg and the Patriots are a round hole, as he tweeted that Newton is "not a Belichick type of guy."

Right. Newton isn't a Belichick guy, but a guy with a '3 percenter' tattoo is so much of a Belichick guy that the Patriots would burn a draft pick on him.

New England is currently the betting favorite to sign Newton, who stated that he was willing to wait until after the NFL Draft to sign with a team. Unfortunately, going by New England's draft strategy and the thoughts of players like Samuel, Newton isn't going to be crash landing in New England.

Newton has been a stand-up citizen, a film junkie and a tremendous player on the field. That sounds like a "Belichick guy" to me.
