Former Pro Bowl DT Albert Haynesworth Needs Kidney Transplant Amid Health Struggles
By Max Scoli
Things just keep going downhill for former star NFL defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth.
The former First-Team All-Pro took to social media to announce that he needs a kidney transplant, and is actively seeking a donor for the procedure.
Haynesworth has certainly had his share of medical issues. There have been several instances where he was noted as being out of shape and unable to pass basic conditioning tests, in the past.
It is clear that his health has only worsened since his departure from the NFL in 2011, as the once-polarizing defensive player is laid up in a hospital bed at the Williamson Medical Center in Franklin, Tenn.
Haynesworth's best season as a football player came in 2008 during his final year with the Tennessee Titans, when he totaled 51 tackles, 2 passes defended, and 3 forced fumbles. As a result of his incredible defensive play, Haynesworth was named the Sporting News' NFL Defensive Player of the Year. Now, he needs a community to rally around him like never before.
