Former Redskins WR Josh Doctson Signs with Vikings
By Parker White
After the Washington Redskins failed to find a trade partner for wide receiver Josh Doctson, the team cut him as part of their 53-man roster crunch.
Well, he went unclaimed on waivers and hit free agency, but has latched on with a new organization. The former first round pick has signed with the Minnesota Vikings, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.
The Redskins were hoping that Doctson would be a future No. 1 wide receiver, but in three seasons he's played in 33 games (26 starts) and has just 81 receptions for 1,100 yards and eight touchdowns.
He'll have to prove himself with Minnesota, but he'll have at least on familiar face in his new locker room, as he's reuniting with former Redskins quarterback Kirk Cousins.
The writing was on the wall for Doctson in Washington. The Redskins have tried to offload him in each of the past two offseasons, to no avail, and with no uptick in production, the team simply ran out of patience.
The 26-year-old has size and was a big-time player at TCU. We'll see if the Vikings can pull that talent out of Doctson as a professional.
