Former UNC PG Coby White Working Out for Knicks on Draft Day
By Will Fowler
Coby White is a draft prospect that is flying way under the radar, that much is clear.
Well, it seems he may be picking up some steam, as he was reportedly working out with the New York Knicks, owners of the No. 3 overall pick.
Now, does this mean White is a lock to go third overall? Absolutely not. In fact, his chances of being taken that high are still slim to none. But it still says something that the North Carolina point guard, who was a fringe lottery pick in most mock drafts, is being worked out by the team that has little intention of trading down from No. 3.
As good a fit as White would be with the Knicks, the team has bigger aspirations, as far as point guard goes. With a couple top-class free agent point guards hitting the market in two weeks, expect the Knicks to go hard after one of them.
But there are other fits throughout the top-10 picks for White -- Chicago at No. 7 and Washington at No. 9 are two that could have the UNC guard primed for success.
Will White end up with New York at No. 3? Probably not. But, whoever does snag him will be getting a point guard with sky-high potential, and it seems the league is finally starting to take notice.
