The Cincinatti Reds are buying low on some potential power ahead of the 2020 season. The club has reportedly agreed to a deal with former White Sox third baseman Matt Davidson, who will be assigned to the team's Triple-A affiliate upon his arrival.

The 28-year old made his MLB debut with the Arizona Diamondbacks in 2013 after winning MVP at that year's All-Star Futures Game, but was traded to the White Sox the following offseason.

Davidson's never had a shortage of power in his career, and hit 46 big flies from 2017-2018 for Chicago. He's a former Triple-A home run derby champion, and combined for 143 RBIs during that same time period. In 2019, he posted 33 homers for the Texas Rangers' Triple-A affiliate in Round Rock.

Hitting for average, though, is not Davidson's forte. He posted a .220 batting average in '17, following that up with .228 in 2018 in his two full seasons with Chicago, with an on base percentage that hovered around .295. He also posted the highest strikeout rate (39.9%) for right-handed handers in the MLB in 2017.

Cincy finished fourth in the NL Central with a 75-87 record last season.
